Book Description :

Geralt of Rivia is a witcher. A cunning sorcerer. A merciless assassin. And a cold-blooded killer. His sole purpose: to destroy the monsters that plague the world. But not everything monstrous-looking is evil and not everything fair is good... and in every fairy tale there is a grain of truth.

A collection of short stories introducing Geralt of Rivia, to be followed by the first novel in the actual series, The Blood of Elves. Note that, while The Last Wish was published after The Sword of Destiny, the stories contained in The Last Wish take place first chronologically, and many of the individual stories were published before The Sword of Destiny.

I started reading this after watching the series on Netflix. Well there are a lot of things different from the series in the book, but I think this is the first time I'd prefer visual adaptation over a written book. I don't know why this is the case but I felt something's missing in here. For most part a lot of stuff was unexplained, a ton of old words or different words used which had difficult use case scenarios to be understood. While looking at this it feels more of a writing-translating error or just they way writer decided to pen it down. Both are weird in its own ways. Apart from that I enjoyed the story, there was a lot of confusion in both books and the series itself but the confusion in the book was overpowering. I feel a lot of mystery around the character would be revealed as we read ahead, as so I hope. If not then it would be a really bad reading experience for sure. Maybe I might just stick with the visual adaption of the story rather than the book, if the later happens. Apart from the writing issues, if you enjoyed the story maybe you should give the book a try, who knows you might find it better faring than I do. As each of us has their own particular tastes developed in a different manner.
