Mini Review: Raavan: Enemy of Aryavarta

Raavan: Enemy of Aryavarta by Amish Tripathi
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Book Description :

A land in tumult, poverty and chaos. Most people suffer quietly. A few rebel. Some fight for a better world. Some for themselves. Some don’t give a damn. Raavan. Fathered by one of the most illustrious sages of the time. Blessed by the Gods with talents beyond all. Cursed by fate to be tested to the extremes.

A formidable teenage pirate, he is filled with equal parts courage, cruelty and fearsome resolve. A resolve to be a giant among men, to conquer, plunder, and seize the greatness that he thinks is his right.

A man of contrasts, of brutal violence and scholarly knowledge. A man who will love without reward and kill without remorse.

This exhilarating third book of the Ram Chandra series sheds light on Ravaan, the king of Lanka. And the light shines on darkness of the darkest kind. Is he the greatest villain in history or just a man in a dark place, all the time?

Read the epic tale of one of the most complex, violent, passionate and accomplished men of all time.

I was quite excited for this book as I have always been fascinated about Raavan. I know this book isn't about the Raavan we know and have talked about but still this has some inferences from the mainstream genre.

I loved the character of Raavan in this book. I although felt little bit bad as the story progressed, you can say I liked the Raavan more.

The end was phenomenal and I was literally having goosebumps. I didn't actually expect this series to have a sequel as first two books have been pretty bland and this book had raised my hopes a bit but well... I'd just let it be there.

I was about to just DNF it when it started getting monotonous and boring in the middle. But the twists in the end damn, it made me go like from giving this book a 3 star rating to giving it a 4 star. I loved the story of Raavan and I feel it was well written story as compared to the first two books.

I never thought this book is going to have a sequel as well. But somewhere I feel this story series is been stretched too much. The content has been draggy so far in first two. This one was decent read.
